Who are these Elusive Forecasters of Doom?
One has to wonder how such strange stories of vanishing hitchhikers got started? In the introduction to these articles, it was mentioned that such beings have been around since the days of covered wagons but perhaps it was even earlier than that - for young women on their way home from dances are not the only vanishing hitchhikers that have been encountered over the years.
There have been many reports of "prophesying passengers" over the years - strange hitchhikers who are picked up and then pass along odd messages, usually involving the end of the world or something almost as dire. Many of them are described as looking "christ-like" or like biblical prophets and in fact, one such enigmatic figure was even nicknamed the "Hitchhiking Jesus" by the press in Palatine, Illinois as they reported alleged encounters with the man. He was always dressed in white clothing and had long hair and a beard. If someone offered him a ride he would climb into the back seat and after riding in silence for a time would shout "the end is near" or "sinner repent" or some such thing. Then, he would simply vanish.
There is also a tale of a prophesying nun from Chicago. A cab driver once told a strange and unsettling fare that he had in December 1941. He was cruising the downtown streets one night and he pulled over to pick up a nun who was dressed in the traditional garb of a Catholic order. She gave him the address that she wished to be taken to and they drove off. The radio was on and the announcer was discussing the events that had taken place at Pearl Harbor a short time before and the preparations that the United States was making for war.
The nun suddenly spoke up from the back seat. "It won’t last more than four months", she said and then didn’t speak again for the rest of the ride.
When the cabbie pulled up to the address, he got out to open the door for the lady. He was surprised to discover that she wasn’t there! Afraid that the little old lady had forgotten to pay her fare, the driver climbed the steps of the address she had given him and discovered that it was a convent. He knocked on the door and was brought to the Mother Superior. He then explained his predicament to her. "What did she look like?" he was asked. She told him that none of the sisters had been downtown that day.
As the driver began to describe her, he happened to look up at a portrait that was hanging on the wall behind the Mother Superior’s desk. "That’s her," he said, obviously thinking that he was going to get his fare after all... but he couldn’t have been more wrong. The Mother Superior smiled and quietly said, "But she has been dead for ten years."
And the nun, like those passengers who tell of the end of the world, are never correct in their predictions. One has to wonder if these beings are truly supernatural, then perhaps they should consider another source for their upcoming events! Another passenger from the Windy City had her own strange prediction to make:
During Chicago’s Century of Progress Exposition in 1933, a group of people in an automobile told of a strange encounter. They were traveling along Lake Shore Drive when a woman with a suitcase, standing by the roadside, hailed them. They invited her to ride along with them and she climbed in. They later say that they never really got a good look at her because it was dark outside.
As they drive along, they get into a conversation about the Exposition and she oddly tells them that the "fair is going to slide off into Lake Michigan in September". She then gives them her address in Chicago and invites them to call on her anytime. When they turn around to speak to her, after this doom-filled warning, she had disappeared!
Unnerved, they decide to go to the address the woman gave them and when they do, a man answers the door. They tell him why they have come and he merely nods his head. "Yes, that was my wife", he tells them. "She died four years ago."
And while such stories may be different than the typical vanishing hitchhiker tale, they still don’t provide the clues as to how stories of strange and vanishing figures (especially those with dire warnings) fit into the American culture. For that, we may have to go back centuries to a mysterious figure who came to be known as the “Wandering Jew”.
There is an old Christian legend that tells of a man who has been forced to travel the world preaching the gospel and who is doomed to wander until Christ’s second coming. The story is very old and is based on the legend of a Jewish man who scorned Christ as he was carrying the cross to Calvary.
Out of this story has grown a great amount of legend and lore that has the Wandering Jew appearing as an old man with a beard and tattered clothing who preaches the word of God, heals people, rescues them from danger and makes dire predictions of events to come. The stories are very widespread and while the last recorded appearance of this figure was in 1900, the story seems to have taken root and has become not only the tales of prophesying passengers but other strange figures who make predictions as well.
One such figure was man, according to the story, who appeared after a thunderclap in Lexington, Tennessee in May 1878. The man (described in newspaper accounts) was said to be about 30, slender, of medium height, with fair skin and brown hair and a beard. He came into town that day and announced that he would be holding a religious service. Rumors quickly spread about this man who called himself Robert Edge and many came to see him.
His sermon that night was unlike anything these simple people of Tennessee has ever heard before. He attacked the principles of the modern church, called for a return to the primitive church of Jesus’ disciples, condemned the Freemasons and then explained biblical prophecies, letting everyone know that the end of the world was coming soon.
He attracted a following and roamed about the countryside, preaching and warning of future dangers, without ever asking for directions. And while the end of the world was not exactly around the corner in 1878, Edge did seem to have advance knowledge of the dangers coming in his direction from the many enemies that he made. One day, he simply vanished and was never heard from again.
In 1890, another such stranger (or perhaps the same one?) came to the city of Augusta, Georgia. He was said to have been an old man with white hair and a neatly trimmed beard and he also spoke of coming dangers and great threats to humanity. He did his preaching in the Market Place, which consisted of two large connecting sheds known as the Upper and Lower Markets. Here, farmers brought goods from their fields and towns people purchased their groceries.
One day, the old man predicted that a storm would destroy the Lower Market and leave only the southwest pillar of the shed standing to prove that he was a prophet of God. Not long after, an electrical storm caused lightning to strike the Market Place and the Lower Market burned to the ground. Only the southwest pillar remained and the "Pillar of Prophecy", as it was called, survived another fire in 1916 and stood until 1920. As for the old man, he was never seen again.
But there is no story of mysterious strangers as American as the Mormon legends of the Three Nephites. Mormonism, later known as the Church of Latter-Day Saints, got its start in upper New York State in the early 1800’s. It was started by a man named Joseph Smith, who claimed to be visited by angels and had revealed to him some golden plates that were translated into the Book of Mormon. The book claims to be the record of the first inhabitants of America, descendants of the Israelites who led a rebellion and were cursed with dark skin. These Lamanites (as they were called) became the American Indians and they warred against the righteous men,
who were descended from Nephi, who were faithful and became disciples of Christ.
An important part of the Book of Mormon is the story of Christ’s ministry in the New World. Three of the disciples that Jesus gathers around him are Nephites and they ask that they be allowed to remain on earth to continue their ministry until Christ returns. In this way, the story parallels the story of the Wandering Jew, except they asked to be here by choice. According to the Book of Mormon, the three Nephites made many appearances over the years but the legends really took hold after the Mormons settled in Utah in the late 1840’s.
One recorded story involving the Nephites occurred in April 1852, after a long period of hardship for the Mormons. One day, an old man knocked at the door of a local family and asked if he could eat with them. There was little food but the woman shared what they had, bread, water and onions. When the man finished, he asked what he could pay the woman for the food and she would take nothing. With that the man blessed her and walked out of the house. The woman asked a neighbor, who had been visiting, to look out and see where the man had gone, but he had vanished. After that, the woman’s family survived the famine and when he neighbors were starving, she had more than enough to feed them and her family too. She was convinced that she was being repaid for her kindness toward the old man, which legend holds was one of the Three Nephites.
In the summer of 1874, another Utah woman was alone at home and turned around suddenly to find an old man with a white beard standing in her kitchen. He asked her for food and she prepared something for him. As they talked, and the old man ate, the woman mentioned that she had not been feeling well. The old man replied that her illness was caused by her liver, but that it would not be bothering her any longer. After eating, the old man blessed the woman and left. She looked out moments after he went through the door, but the man was gone. She came to believe the man was one of the Three Nephites. Her health problems ceased soon after and her family began to prosper. When the woman died at age 89, her wealth was enough to provide for all of her children’s families for life.
And there were many other stories of mysterious men helping out Mormon families, speaking of their work on earth and making predictions of things to come. No matter what you believe about the stories of the Nephites, or Mormonism in general, it’s not hard to see how legends of the Wandering Jew became the Three Nephites and progressed into the more modern day versions of the prophesying passengers in automobiles.
The strange parallels between all of the stories seem to point to a common theme and perhaps even one based in truth.

How to Read a Candle Flame
You can find important messages in the flame. Here’s some tips for reading the flames of glass encased candles.
Candle is burning evenly and steadily
This is usually a very good sign. An indication that the spell or blessing will probably work out and that you will likely get your wish. If you are burning a candle inside a glass, look at the glass. Is the glass clean with little or no trace of the wax? GOOD! You have most likely casted a successful spell.
Candle hisses or makes sizzling noises
Listen! This may be a spirit, angel or some other worldy being trying to communicate. Clear your mind so you can receive the message.
Candle flame sparks
Don’t want to worry you but this is interpreted as some disillusion with what you are asking.
Candle flame is unsteady, dipping, rising and flaring constantly
If you are sure that your candle is not sitting by a draft, then this may be a sign that your spell is being met with some resistance by the person to whom it was intended. This person may be unconciously aware of your actions and may be resisting the spell.

Casting Instructions for ' Dreaming Exercise: Meet Your Unborn Child'
Keep a pen and paper beside your bed so that you may write down your dreams as soon as you wake up. Keep in mind that you may awaken during the night and should write down any dreams before falling back asleep.
As you lie down to go to sleep, count yourself down from ten to one, stopping periodically to remind yourself to take a deep breath and go deeper. If you find you are still tense from the day, count down again from ten to one. When you are very relaxed and nearing sleep, tell yourself with belief and intent that you will meet with your unborn child this night during dreaming and that you will remember it upon waking.
Turn your attention to the child in your womb. If you are not the mother, focus your attention on your image of the baby and continue as directed. Visualize your intention to meet with this being in a dream that night and send it with the feel of a question. Be specific that you are asking the child to meet you in a dream.
Allow yourself to fall asleep.

HOW TO BE PSYCHIC
By Tortue
Being a psychic is no more complicated than being good at tennis or golf , it is only a matter of training , motivation and discipline . I will give you some basic techniques to help you to get you started:
There are 6 steps :
Step 1 – concentration and visualization
Step 2 - Removing blocks
Step 3 -Keep track of your progress with a journal
Step 4 – Energy work
Step 5 – Altered states
Step 6 – psychic work
Step 1 - Concentration:
If you want to perceive someone else thoughts clearly you will need concentration.
If you want to move an object with your mind you will need concentration.
If you want clairvoyantly perceive distant place , you will need concentration. Psychic is about awareness , psychic is about observing and being. You’ll not be able to perceive what someone think if you don’t listen .When your mind is filled with unnecessary thoughts, perception is difficult . Achieving a good level of concentration is beneficial in all psychic activities from OOBE to telepathy.
Exercise :
Concentration with picture :
This first exercise will help you to develop concentration and visualization.
Sit comfortably and take a picture . During one minute breath slowly.
Look at the picture during one minute then close your eyes and try to reproduce it with all details in your mind.
If you need more guideance http://www.improving-concentration.com/ has a complete e-book full of concentration exercises.
Step 2 : Removing blocks
If you believe you will not be able to be psychic or that you need to be gifted or have an accident that trigger your ability . Then you are in trouble because those beliefs create unnecessary blocks. Nurture the appropriate beliefs about psychic ability , affirm : I’m psychic
And when you affirm it , affirm it with your heart your feelings and emotions , just parroting words doesn’t work.
There is other type of block they are fear based. Let’s say you want to learn Out Of Body techniques but you believe that If you leave your body you may not be able to come back. This block can be worked out with EFT. Go to emofree and read the free e-book there is also good resource at EMOFREE
Step 3 : Journaling
It’s must be evident to any aspirant that keeping track of your progress is essential . This is will keep you motivate. Your journal format can be this way:
Date : October 22, 2003
Exercise:
Psychic reading : Today, the card told me that I must go meditate in the nature. I will try this and see if there is benefit for me
Synchronicity : Yesterday, I thought of Dani , it’s months , I haven’t see him and this morning I met him in a shop .That’s nice. My telepathic ability is improving.
Meditation : I no longer fall asleep it’s 3 days ,now that I’m able to relax , let it go and stay in trance .
So you get the picture , with a journal , you can keep track of your progress this is a very important tool .
Step 4 - Energy – How to have it :
Acquiring energy will greatly help you in any psychic stuffs especially OOBE , remote viewing / clairvoyance , channeling , telepathy.
There is many way to acquires energy , I recommend you go at Astral Dynamics and you follow the NEW energy method , it’s easy and free. Anyone can do it.
Step 5 - Altered state
Psychic activity usually coincide with alpha , theta and delta brainwave patterns. When you are awake you are in beta state. I’ll not enter into details here. I’ll point to resource you can use to reach those altered states quickly. Brainwave entrainment via music is one of them and it’s the one I recommend. There is many good CD available such as hemi-synch and other.
Another way you can do it , is to close your eyes , sit comfortably and count 100 to 1.
When you reach 1 , start breathing in these color red , orange , yellow , green , blue , indigo , violet. When it’s done pictures yourself walking either in a beautiful beach or a beautiful meadow .
Step 6 – Psychic Work
Finally, the psychic work , It all depend on what you choose to be expert at. Tarot reading, psychometry , telepathy , astral projection. If you master the 5 other steps, you will progress rapidly in your chosen field.

Third Eye Truths
Joe Russa (SUNEYE)
You probably heard of the remarkable third eye that has been said to give psychic abilities. With its fame came a lot of misconceptions and misunderstandings. What I am trying to do is to clarify these misconceptions and misunderstanding, teach you what it is and how to develop it. Overall, I want this article to give people the truth of the third eye.
Western occult and New Age have recently identified the mystical third eye to the Ajna chakra not found in the original Tantrika system. It has also been identified to the pineal gland.
The original Tantrika system mentions the Ajna chakra as having two petals (maybe because it is located between our two eyes). It is said to be white in color and means 'command' in the sense of spiritual guidance. Once you open this chakra you will have the power to command and order - whatsoever you say will happen, whatsoever you desire will happen.
The recent version of the Ajna chakra from Western occult and New Age means intuition, imagination and will give you psychic perception accurate interpretation, imagination, clear seeing, etc. The color is indigo. This and other such concepts are not found in the original Tantrika system.
Western occult and New Age also mentions that the third eye is the pineal gland. The pineal gland is about 8-mm x 5-mm or about the size of a grain of rice and is located deep in the center of the brain aligned between our eyes. its discovery was late in time due to its size. Scientist do not understand exactly what its function may be, but do agree that it is affected by light through secreting a chemical called melatonin.
It is clearly understandable the association made of the 'magical' third eye, the Ajna chakra, and the Pineal gland (Note that many recent articles have made mistakes in mentioning the Pituitary gland. This confusion is due more to the location of these glands and the likeness of the name. These authors really mean the Pineal gland). In the case of the Ajna chakra, religions have mentioned its location between the eyes, eyebrows, or at the center of the forehead and its association to light, which is why a lot of current meditation techniques involves focusing on the third eye while imagining a ball of bright light. These orthodox religion mentions that the activation of this chakra causes perfect knowledge, ultimate life, and is the elixir of immortality and spiritual light.
Western occult and New Age association of the third eye was also influenced from studies of the Pineal gland. Galen was the first to mention it to the West in the second century. He believed it to be a valve that regulated thought. Eighteenth century French scientist and philosopher Rene Descartes said that it was the chief interpreter of vision and mentions it as the seat of the human soul. Nils HolmgrenIn, a Swedish anatomist, was probably the first to name the Pineal gland as a 'third eye' when in 1918, he discovered cells that looked very much like cone cells of a retinal nature in the tip of the gland of frogs and dogfish sharks. Note that his meaning of the third eye is not the same as the Western occult or New Age.
Recent discoveries in animals have found that the Pineal gland effects day/night cycles, navigation, and in the case of the Western Fence Lizard, contains a photoreceptive element scientist called a 'third eye' that protrudes at the top of the head.
I believe that all of these common denominators have made the Western occult and New Age believe that the Ajna chakra, Pineal gland, and the magical third eye is the same thing, even though, they may not be.
Finally, the main reason for these associations, especially to out-of-body experiences, is the ability to see with your eyes closed. Many people, when napping, are able to see their rooms with their eyes closed. In the cataleptic state of an out-of-body experience, people could feel their eyes closed, but are able to see the room they are sleeping in, as though, they were seeing it with their physical eyes. My personal experiences have confirmed this to me. I am able to see between and above my eyebrows with my physical eyes closed during an out-of-body experience.
Well, what are the capabilities of this third eye and how do we develop it? Later on, I will give you detailed instructions on how to perform the third eye focus technique exactly as instructed by the Yogis.
Many texts have claimed shifting of consciousness when the third eye is focused upon. Hypnotists usually induce hypnosis to a subject by having them look up at a shiny object, not only because it causes eye fatigue, but also because it causes the mind to accept suggestions easier. Yogis believe that concentrating on the third eye causes psychic powers for this same reason.
The power from the third eye focus technique comes from the ability to make a subject focus on a single thought. It is a powerful focus of the subconscious making the technique the easiest way to make your mind accept your most wanted desires. It is like a magnet, in which, once focused upon, all of your mental suggestions become sucked in by your subconscious.
The third eye is a direct doorway to your subconscious and that is why the Yogis believe that, out of all the meditation methods, the third eye focus technique is the best way to calm the scattered mind. These are the reasons I use it in the SUNEYE Methods.
It has made it extremely easy for my students and I to control a stressful mind. When focusing on the third eye, you easily loose awareness of your physical body. All of your trespassing thoughts dissipate and single-minded concentration on a thought increases.
The Yogis deeply believe that, once the Ajna chakra is opened through focusing upon, the powers of astral projection and dream control are achieved. They do not focus on the third eye chakra for these reasons, though, but to reach enlightenment.
The people that have tried the third eye focus technique in the SUNEYE Methods say that they notice an increase of clarity in their thoughts, as if their subconscious mind accepted every suggestion they inputted. When they stopped using it, their OBEs and LDs began to decrease. Mark tried the technique and realized how it focused his
self-hypnotic suggestions:
"By concentrating on my third eye, I found that no other thoughts entered my head. Except, those of "I will induce a lucid dream", "I will induce an OOBE" and small clips of what it would be like to go to the place where I saw a couple of shooting stars when I had gone out the night before... I fell asleep quite quickly compared to other nights this week."
Djey noticed immediate results using this technique in her meditation:
"Adding Joe Russa's "third eye focus technique" to my usual formulas of cycles-through the chakras and meditation, had immediate results. First night/morning experienced clear hypnagogic images, pale green and then a very sharp colorful landscape... Practice "third-eye concentration" again for about five minutes and soon felt gentle vibrations and buzzing in ears."
Jagan and I became really good friends during his training. He told me that his out-of-body experiences and lucid dreams were very blurred. I told him to try the third eye focus technique during his OBEs and LDs and see if it makes a difference:
"My scenery is not that bright during my OBEs. Last night I sat down on the floor during the OBE and meditated on my third eye. From then on, the scenery became vivid. Maybe that is what I have to do for some time before I continue with the rest of the experience."
Method 1: With your eyes open, touch the center of your forehead with your finger. Try to look up at the spot where your fingertip makes contact with your forehead as best as you can. You will notice that looking at the point of contact is impossible, but this is how you want your eyes to be positioned.
Do not tense your facial muscles or wrinkle your forehead. Your eyes need to look up as best as possible towards your fingertip, but your surrounding eye and facial muscles should stay completely relaxed. Now, close your eyes while keeping that position. Keep practicing until you can roll-up your eyes as far as you can, with them closed, while keeping your face relaxed. Remember that you have to do this technique correctly every time or it will lose its power.
Method 2: With your eyes open, place the tip of your finger between your eyebrows just above the eyes. Move the tip of your finger perpendicularly away from your face 3 inches (use a ruler to help you estimate the length). Now, try to look at the tip of your finger as clearly as you can. This is the position you want your eyes to be in when you close them. While keeping sight of your fingertip, close your eyes.
Method 3: Create the imagination (visualization) of a golden sun or flame between the eyebrows.
Method 4: Do method 2 while facing the sun on a bright day.
Motivation is the key - once you start doing the third eye focus technique for the sake of it - and not being motivated - the power it can give you will diminish.
The third eye technique will make you use your eye muscles like you have probably never used before. You might not get it correct the first time, but once you have exercised those muscles, the technique will make focusing on a thought extremely easy. Slight headaches usually are associated after using this technique, but they diminish after the second or third time.
Another person that have tried our SUNEYE Methods had problems doing the third eye technique her first time. Clairity soon realized that it became a lot easier the second time around.
"I went back to my couch, put my earplugs in, dimmed the light a little and did the third eye technique for 5 minutes. I find that what seems to work for me is stating "everything is a dream" and "I am dreaming" as I focus on my third eye. BTW, I can now roll my eyes to my third eye and hold them there until I decide to stop (I could only do this for less than a minute when I first started this technique)."

Third Eye Rite to Improve Psychic Powers
Perform this neo-Pagan ritual to improve psychic powers three days before the moon is full, and preferably when it is in either the astrological sign of Cancer, Pisces or Scorpio.
Begin by brewing a strong magical tea made from yarrow or mugwort (herbs that stimulate the psychic senses) and then light thirteen purple colored votive candles to help attract psychic influences. Drink the tea and then gaze fixedly into a magic mirror, crystal ball, or crystal pyramid as you chant thrice the following incantation:
I invoke thee, O Asariel
Archangel of Neptune
And ruler of clairvoyant powers.
I ask thee now to open my third eye
And show me the hidden light
Let me see the future.
Let me see the past.
Let me perceive the divine
Kingdoms of the unknown.
Let me understand the wisdom
Of the mighty universe.
So mote it be!
After chanting, relax, breathe slowly and concentrate on opening your Third Eye. Do not permit any negative thought to contaminate your mind. The Third Eye, an invisible chakra located in the middle of the forehead above the space between the eyebrows, is the human body's highest source of power, supernormal sight and clairvoyant vision.

EGYPTIAN-STYLE TEA LEAF READINGS
http://www.oldwitchcraft.com/
To learn how to foretell the future and get answers and gain insight into your most urgent questions, Egyptian-style tea leaf reading is one scrying method that is a simple means of tapping into your intuition and developing confidence and imagination. It's easy to start and requires no special tools; only a cup of tea made from loose tea leaves is needed. Of course, you must drink the tea, as it is the configuration of the leaves at the bottom of the cup that is the object of divination.
When learning a new divination technique, I suggest getting a journal and writing down the time and date of your reading. This way, you can refer back to it after a period of time and re-evaluate your interpretations. This is particulalry useful when the situation surrounding the divination has changed.
In divination, your first gut reaction is the correct one. It is important to trust your intuition. Look at the leaves and go with your first instinct. Below is a list of symbols and their meanings.

Cauldron Prophecy
Purpose: to call upon the Norse gods for prophecies revealed through immediate visions (sometimes these arrive later in the dream state).
Fill a cauldron or large, black iron pot half-full of fresh water. Add a handful of Buttercup or Marigold petals. Light incense of Sage (also used for protection) or burn some Thyme. Stir the cauldron/pot gently three times while chanting:
Into the threads of time I cast my thoughts,
To catch a glimpse of what will be!
O' Gods of Asgard, bring into my mind,
The lovely gift of prophecy!
Look deep into the cauldron and wait for visions to unfold. You don't request insight into any particular matter using this method.
