Silly Yule Tradition

I just wanted to pass along a sort of silly tradition that my family started several years ago.

Regardless of what holiday(s) you celebrate at this time of year, no one can argue that it can get a bit stressful, and tempers can flair. That's why my family invented what we call the "Grumpy Christmas Elf". (Depending on need, we change this seasonally. e.g. Grumpy Thanksgiving Elf, Grumpy Back-To-School Elf, whatever. And of course it could be the Grumpy Yule Elf---it's just that the rest of my family aren't pagan.)

Anyway, whenever anyone starts getting to angry or downright **tchy, someone else will point out that a Grumpy Christmas Elf is visiting. It's a nicer way of saying, "Hey, you need to lighten up!" And then we all try to picture and describe out loud what he looks like--sitting there with a frowny face, blowing raspberries, etc. Usually that in and of itself is enough to make people cheer up. It's a rather humorous picture when you think about it! And of course the only way to get rid of a Grumpy Christmas Elf is to smile and laugh!

Another important part is that if you don't get rid of Grumpy Christmas Elf fast, he'll invite a bunch of other Grumpy Christmas Elves over, and you'll be stuck with a whole flock of them, which is even harder to get rid of. Everyone knows bad moods are contageous!

So this holiday season, when you get a little stressed out, don't forget to look around for a Grumpy Christmas Elf and get rid of him quick!

Merry Yule, and Blessed Be!

Terra
